Thor Heyerdahl

October 6 is the 95th anniversary of the birth of Norwegian adventurer Thor Heyerdahl. One of his best know feats was his 1947 voyage across the Pacific ocean from South America to the Polynesian islands. His vessel was a raft made using only the materials and technologies known to the pre-Columbian inhabitants of South America.
